This veterinarian doesn’t just work in a partner hospital, she and her dog,
Harry, are also Trupanion members!
As a veterinarian, I knew a large breed dog like my Harry, the St. Bernard,
would be expensive to care for, as St. Bernards have many health issues
throughout their life. I researched different insurance companies and truly
liked Trupanion the best.
In only three short years, Trupanion has paid over $17,000 for his
veterinary care. This includes Harry’s emergency abdominal surgery while I
was out of the country; his chronic flea, dust mite and seasonal allergies;
his lameness issues while he was growing so big; and multiple incidents of
vomiting and diarrhea.
Going forward, we hope he does not need Trupanion, but St. Bernards are
notorious for bloat, arthritis and bone cancer, as well as other illnesses
that come with age. I am confident that should Harry need further care, I
am in the best position possible with his Trupanion coverage.
I would love to see all of my pet patients be able to get Trupanion
insurance and have access to the same essential care that Harry has needed

Almost 2 years ago we chose the Animal Clinic of Mandarin to care for our animals. Dr Kaiser is kind, sympathetic, caring and very knowledgeable about our 2 dogs. Her staff is also very caring about our animals. We bought Trupanion insurance shortly after we adopted Shaina and it was the best decision we made because Shaina has severe allergies to numerous allergens. Dr. Kaiser was concerned about our young dog being on Prednisone daily. She immediately tapered her off medication and started the only allergy medication known for dogs at the time, Apoquel. When we thought Shaina was having a reaction to this medication, we stopped it. Around this time, an allergy injection given once/month became available and Shaina was started on it. Unfortunately, Shaina was still developing skin infections and receiving antibiotics as needed. Dr. Kaiser explained that dogs with severe allergies have skin changes, suggesting a shampoo, then a mousse as needed. Our dog needs an allergy injection monthly, daily medication, special food along with monthly check-ups.
Fortunately, we have Trupanion insurance! This insurance pays 90% of all medications, first bag of special food, and all laboratory tests pertaining to the dog's illness. It will also cover any new problems that might arise. Thank goodness for that because, since 1/2012, Trupanion has paid $11,237.56 to our vets. Dr. Kaiser submits bills to Trupanion first, then we pay the rest! Dr. Kaiser also shows me the itemized bill and I have the option of accepting or denying any service. I learned that having a sick dog can be very expensive, so when we adopted our 2nd dog, we bought insurance for her also. Fortunately, she is a healthy dog!
I would highly recommend Dr Kaiser and the Animal Clinic of Mandarin, along with Trupanion pet insurance.

Animal Clinic of Mandarin and Dr. Kaiser have been truly wonderful caring for Gus. In addition to the excellent care provided, I am also grateful that they accept and file the necessary paperwork for Trupanion. I know not all clinics handle the insurance process from the start to finish and I'm so happy Animal Clinic of Mandarin does - I don;t have to complete any additional paperwork on my own.
In two short years, Trupanion has saved me $2,423.00. There are so many options for coverage to suit different needs and it's really worked out well. I don't know what needs or expenses my pet will have in the future, but I am certain Trupanion will continue to provide excellent savings.
